George Michael could be barred from the U.S. after being cautioned for possession of cannabis.
The singer, who admitted possessing a bag of the drug, has a home in America. But a U.S.
Immigration Service spokesman said a drug conviction can mean trouble getting into the country.
An earlier offence by the gay former Wham! star for lewd behaviour - when he was caught by police in a Los Angeles toilet in 1998 - could make things worse.
'This caution could certainly cause problems,' said the immigration spokesman. 'But it has to be stressed that this sort of thing is dealt with on a case by case basis.
'We can't say one way or another without reviewing all the details of the charges. But drug convictions can make things difficult for foreign visitors.'
