Shane Warne has threatened to take legal action against Channel Nine's Today show after he was labelled 'creepy'.
Warne, 47, was referred to as a “creepy uncle” during the show’s The Sunday Jury segment after it was revealed he had commented on a picture of model Emily Ratajkowski.
Michelle Stephenson, Nova’s National News Director said: “It’s all a bit creepy. He’s like that guy that sits at the end of the bar and has those really cheesy lines hoping that one of them will work and I don’t think they’re working anymore.”
Warne slammed the comments on Twitter and told followers: “Ps I've been employed by Ch 9 for 23 years & have gone out of my way to give the today show my time, not anymore, lawyer time I think...”
The former cricketer’s ex Elizabeth Hurley jumped to his defence and said the comments were “mean”.
She tweeted: “Extraordinary for Channel 9 to call their own employee 'creepy'.... @TheTodayShow is being mean to the Big Blonde.”
Piers Morgan also stuck up for Warne and said he is “big-hearted and loyal”.
The Good Morning Britain presenter tweeted: “Strange way to treat one of your own @Channel9 stars isn't it? @ShaneWarne's a great guy doing nothing wrong - cut him some slack.
“Actually, I've known @ShaneWarne for many years & he's a great guy - generous, big-hearted & loyal to his friends.”
The comments were made after Warne posted a message on Ratajkowski’s Instagram account.
“Stunning day in London!!! Enjoy. X,” he wrote.
The post sparked the hashtag “GiveShaneAGo” as fans encouraged Ratajkowski to give Warne a shot at love.
Some simply posted the hashtag while others made jokes using cricket terminology.
But some deemed him to be "out of her league".
