A launch party for the Battersea Power Station development was threatened with cancellation because of the risk of disturbing a pair of protected peregrine falcons.
Days before the event, which featured a gig from Sir Elton John, developer Rob Tincknell was warned he could face jail if it frightened the birds and they abandoned their eggs.
As a result £300,000 was spent on replanning the party. It was held inside the power station, instead of in an existing pavilion nearer the nest, and guests — who included Kit Harington and Jack Whitehall — were given headphones to listen to music.
The three eggs hatched a month ago and the chicks — named Giles, Gilbert and Scott after the architect who worked on the power station — are preparing to fly the nest.
