THE impact of war in Iraq and weak global demand hit engineer Weir, which showed a 7.8% fall in first half profits and warned of a difficult second half. The Glasgow-based firm said profits in the 26 weeks to 27 June fell to £23.6m from £25.6m in the same period a year ago.
